The Ogden Transfer Station is equipped with a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), which plays a key role in our recycling process. A MRF is a specialized plant where recyclable materials are sorted and prepared for processing. At our facility, we separate clean cardboard from mixed recyclables to maximize recycling efficiency. The clean cardboard is baled on-site and shipped directly to recycling mills, while the remaining recyclables are also baled and sent to a secondary facility for further sorting and processing.

✅ ACCEPTABLE Items:

📦 Aseptic Containers

  • Juice & milk cartons

  • Shelf-stable drink boxes

📰 Paper

  • Newspapers & magazines

  • Junk mail & office paper (white or colored)

📁 Cardboard & Paperboard

  • Packaging boxes

  • Food/shoe boxes

  • Corrugated cardboard

  • Soda/snack boxes

♻️ Plastics #1–#7

  • Bottles, jars, jugs, tubs, lids

  • 5-gallon buckets (metal handles removed)

  • 55-gallon barrels (must be triple-rinsed)

🥫 Metal

  • Aluminum beverage cans

  • Trays & foil

  • Punctured aerosol cans

  • Steel & tin cans and containers

 

❌ UNACCEPTABLE Items:

🛍️ Bagged Material

  • Loose recyclables only—no plastic bags

🍷 Glass

  • Absolutely no glass of any kind

🍕 Food or Liquid

  • Rinse all recyclables—no leftovers allowed

🥤 Disposable Paper Products

  • Napkins, paper towels, tissues, and drink cups

🧊 Styrofoam

  • Includes cups, plates, containers

😷 Facemasks

  • Used or unused

📦 Soft Plastics

  • Plastic bags, stretch wrap, bubble wrap

🧰 Hard Plastics

  • PVC pipe, plastic utensils, coat hangers

👚 Clothing, Furniture, Textiles

  • Not recyclable through this program

💻 E-Waste

  • Electronics, batteries, small appliances

🌿 Green Waste

  • Grass, branches, weeds

🧵 Tanglers

  • Holiday lights, cords, wires

🚧 Construction Debris

  • Concrete, wood, drywall, etc.

🛞 Scrap Materials

  • Tires, scrap metal, auto parts, unpunctured aerosol cans

📦 Waxed Fibers

  • Waxed cardboard, wrapping paper, sticker backings
